The Frigidaire Gallery adds convection as well as a fifth burners and a much nicer exterior than their regular range. Convection keeps a more even temperature by distributing the heat with a fan especially for baking.

KitchenAid is brand new and restyled to look more professional. It has flexible burners for almost any pan.

Induction, however, has changed the market for electric cooking. Induction is magnetic heat, which excites the molecules in the metal pan to heat the food faster with instant simmer response.

Induction is in fact faster than the hottest professional range and 30% more efficient for less venting. It’s also the most child safe as well.

Most higher end ranges are now sold as induction.

Frigidaire FGIF3061NF – $1,549 

Go back 10 years ago and the only available induction range was $14,999. Today, this Frigidaire comes in at 1/10th the cost, giving you pretty much every conceivable feature from a tempature probe to true european convection…its either magic or more efficient engineering, jury is still out.

It’s been lean times for induction freestanding ranges, but the best value is Frigidaire and Samsung with good wattages at reasonable prices. They both have convection and a warming drawer. Electrolux is decent, but should be a bit more reliable

Frigidaire has been available for a longer period of time, so it is more of a known commodity. Samsung has an incredibly flexible cooktop and the world’s only three fan convection system for optimum cooking.

Electrolux EI30IF40LS – $1,999

Electrolux and Frigidaire are part vof the same company, but Electrolux has many more automatic cooking modes for proofing breads, dehydrating fruits or cooking the perfect turkey.

Bosch Benchmark has a slick interface and overall great designs. The commercial look is appealing as well as the reliability. There are also great package opportunities with Bosch.
