Hey Appliance Fans,
Welcome to 2011 everyone! I hope your New Year’s celebration was safe and that your morning after headache didn’t last too long. While everyone is busy creating their resolutions, I have created one of my own: I will no longer make New Year’s resolutions. This resolution has worked for me in the past so I’m going to keep going with it. Ironically, it’s probably the only resolution that I’ve adhered to.
I’ve decided that this week’s blog is going to be similar to sprinting– short bursts of power packed with a punch. So here goes:
The 40 Yard Dash (no sweat, I can do 40 yards):
With the new year usually comes price increases from manufacturers. I say usually because that’s what they do. It seems that manufacturers have realized that we’re in a not-so-good economy and maybe a price increase isn’t such a good idea. That being said, however, you might notice slight price increases (maybe 1-3 percent) on some units, but overall there’s nothing major so your wallet is safe….for now.
The 100 Yard Sprint (kinda sweating here, but I can still do it):
Rather than price increases, manufacturers have decided to create or extend rebate programs. Good news, right? Right! Viking has extended their rebate program until April 30th and Thermador lengthened their program until December 31. Sub-Zero and Wolf already extended their rebate program until March 31. Will they extend it even more? I have no idea, but it wouldn’t surprise me if they did. Stay tuned folks, because I’ll be all over it if they do. It’s not just Therm, Sub, and Viking. GE, Whirlpool, and Kitchenaid are all getting in on the rebates too. Stop in and speak with one of our sales people for more details and information on qualifying units.
The 200 Yard Dash (I can do it, but it’s not really a “dash” it’s more of a quick lope):
“If I have one more stinking pancake, I’m going to stomp all over your griddle.”
Now’s the time where I take off the gloves and I get to complain about you, the customer. I know what you’re thinking, “Holy Moly Kieffer’s Guy, you’re not going to go there are you!?” Yes, I’m going to go there and I’m going to complain about you. And what’s my complaint? Every time a customer walks into the showroom and sees a griddle built into a range or rangetop they exclaim, “I don’t cook enough pancakes to warrant a griddle”.
My complaint is that YOU the customer aren’t thinking creatively. Sure griddles will make great pancakes, but how about fajitas, cheese steaks, multiple grill cheese sandwiches, fish, burgers, home fries, sauteed veggies, bacon, sausage, eggs, etc. My point is griddles are extremely versatile. In fact, what’s wrong with putting a pot or pan directly on the griddle and having it act as an additional burner? There’s nothing wrong with it and I encourage you to try it.
If you’re shopping for a range or range top any time soon, please please please consider adding a griddle to your burner configuration. The culinary possibilities are limitless plus they’re uber cool. Yes, I said “uber”.
